Areen offers a first success to French-American consignement

Sheikh Abdallah Al Maddah-owned AREEN gained a deserved first career victory at Deauville last Saturday on his second start only, making amends for his unsuccessful debut at Chantilly last month over a shorter distance. The 2yo colt in training with Pia and Joakim Brandt showed a fighting attitude to fend off Fernoboy when he was challenged and landed the Prix Etalon Mukhadram by a nose.

Areen is a son of GIANT’S CAUSEWAY out of GREY LINA, a daughter of Empire Maker that has already produced a Stakes winner in USA named ROYAL BY NATURE. The grey colt arrived in Haras de Gouffern in December 2018. He was then prepped at Gouffern for the 2019 ARQANA August Yearling Sale and became the very first yearling to be offered on Deauville’s sales ring under the Gouffern Taylor Made Sales banner. Areen was bought back for €145,000, headed to Ecuries Diane (Diane Lybeck) to be broken in and pre-trained before joining Brandt’s yard.

Gouffern Taylor Made Sales is a French-American joint-consignment operated by Haras de Gouffern and US leading vendor Taylor Made Sales Agency. The duo will offer a new selection of yearlings in October at Deauville that includes fillies by Camelot, New Bay, Charm Spirit as well as colts by Kendargent and Reliable Man.
