Next target is the 2020 Qatar Arabian World Cup (Gr.1 PA)

On Sunday September 13th, Haras de Gouffern homebred FAZZA AL KHALEDIAH landed the 2nd Group 1 PA of his career in ParisLongchamp, a track he is particularly fond of. After travelling well in third position, the 6yo son of Jalnar Al Khalidiah displayed a great turn of foot to prevail by nearly 2 lengths in the Qatar Cup – Prix Dragon (Gr.1 PA). This is the second best time of the race over the past 15 renewals. A 2018 Qatar Arabian World Cup (Gr.1 PA) hero and then three-time placed 2nd at the highest level in Middle East. After an almost one year’s break, Fazza Al Khalediah made a winning reappearance at Mons in February before running 5th in the Doha Cup – Prix Manganate (Gr. 1 PA) on testing ground, at Deauville in August. Trained in Poland by Michal Borkowski and owned by Polska AKF SP, the horse seems very competitive ahead of his second attempt in the prestigious Qatar Arabian World Cup (Gr.1 PA), to be run in three weeks’ time at Longchamp on the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe day.

Born and bred on the Norman land of Haras de Gouffern by Al Khalediah Stables, Fazzal Al Khalediah is out of ASSMA AL KHALEDIAH, second of Champion filly Al Nachmiya in the Prix Nefta (Gr.2 PA). His second dam, Dalina des Fabries, finished 2nd in the Abu Dhabi International Stakes (Gr.1 PA) before taking the Coupe Al Asayl at Craon. Then she turned out to be a good broodmare, having produced OCYRRHOE, a mare born, bred and currently boarding at Haras de Gouffern who won the French Arabian Breeders’ Challenge (Gr.1 PA) at Saint-Cloud. Ocyrrhoe is the dam of ARTEMIS, also born and bred at Gouffern, who recorded a cosy win in the Prix Nevadour (Gr.3 PA) at La Teste last month and ran  2nd in the Qatar Derby des 4 ans (Gr.1 PA) at Chantilly on July, only beaten by 4yo colt Hattal, who also took the UAE President Cup (Gr.1 PA) at Doncaster last Saturday.
