Four of the five yearlings consigned changed hand

The co-consignment established by Haras de Gouffern and US leading vendor Taylor Made Sales Agency offered five yearlings at the 2020 ARQANA October Yearling Sale held at Deauville from Monday October 19th to Friday October 23rd.

On the third day of the sale, lot 403, a son of French leading sire Kendargent out of the young Montjeu mare Laufeen attracted broad interest around the sales ring and was eventually the centre of an exciting bidding battle. Finally, the Spanish bloodstock agent Gerardo Torres Gonzalez (Grupo 1) had the final say and secured the colt for €42,000. The yearling has now reached the stables of the young trainer Eduardo Buzon and will run in the future under the colours of Cuadra Agrado.

The next day, two fillies went under the hammer and found new homes on that occasion.
A daughter of the sought-after Coolmore sire Camelot out of Kendargent mare Cleverleyca, lot 608 retained Simone Brogi’s attention and was knocked down to the Pau-based trainer for €21,000.
Later in the day, astute bloodstock agent Paul Nataf purchased lot 659 on behalf of Haras de la Gousserie, a successful racing and breeding operation in France that has achieved outstanding racing results in 2020 through Gr.1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère hero Sealiway and Gr.1 Prix Marcel Boussac placed and Gr.3 winner Rougir, to mention just a few. The daughter of leading first crop sire New Bay out of Hurbling, a mare from the family of the great Zelding, is bred on a similar cross as New Mandate, the Gr.2 winning best son of New Bay who is targeting this week’s Gr.1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf at Keeneland.

Concluding an intense week, lot 687 was bought for €6,000 by Success Bloodstock Agency on the fifth and final day of the sale. This is a daughter of the precocious English-based sire Swiss Spirit and the good Lily Carstairs, a 6-time winner from 2 to 6.

On the first day of the sale, lot 194, a colt by Reliable Man out of Stars Alight, didn’t reached the reserve set by his breeder and was hence bought back.

Thank you to the vendors, buyers as well as the Gouffern Taylor Made Sales and ARQANA teams and best of luck for the future!
