Launch of the Gouffern Horseman Club : the art of experiencing the passion of breeding and horse racing
Become involved in racing and enjoy new experiences, rich in emotions.
Through its breeding and racing syndicates, this club brings racehorse owners together so that they can experience the everyday life of their horses, syndicates and the major events in the world of horseracing.
Members of the breeding syndicate assume the role of breeders/sellers and are involved in each step of the life of a future racehorse.
They create important links with their mares and foals, are involved in important decisions regarding their career and experience first-hand the adrenalin of selling a horse at the sales. Ultimately, they acquire a real sense of the breeding industry.
The breeding syndicate will own three mares, which the GHC will buy at the Deauville sales, the Newmarket sales in England or at the Keeneland sales in the United States. They will return to the Haras de Gouffern, the cradle of the GHC stables in Normandy, where they will give birth to their foals.
Over a three-year-cycle, the yearlings will be sold at the Deauville sales, while the mares will be sold at the end of the year, following the birth of their second foal.
Members of the racing syndicate will discover how yearlings become proper racehorses, from breaking in yearlings, to the pre-training in Normandy, to the fabulous training centre of Chantilly. They will go to the races as owners and enjoy the magnificent racecourses in France where they can watch their horses perform up close and personal.
The racing syndicate will be composed of two yearlings that will be bought at the Deauville sales. It will also have one horse in training, which is ready to run and that will either be bought privately or at the sales. Racehorse owners will be able to witness the breaking in of their yearlings, the training and the performances on the racecourse of the three horses that make up the racing syndicate.
Following the two or three racing seasons, the horses are sold either privately or at the Deauville sales. Once more revenues will be shared.
Apart from the associated activities of the racing and breeding syndicates, upon registration, members of the club can enjoy unforgettable moments in the racing world, regardless if they are co-breeders or co-owners.
The club gives members the opportunity to savour racing and breeding highlights in France and abroad, regardless which syndicate they belong to. As VIP guests, they will attend the most glamorous meetings in the world, like the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, the Prix de Diane or Royal Ascot, which is attended by the British Royals. They will take a plane for the United States or Dubai to experience the Breeders’ Cup or the Dubai World Cup and they will be carried away by the buzz at the Deauville sales, the Keeneland sales in America or the sales in England and Ireland, home to the best stallions in the world. (A relire en Français, Keeneland c’est aux Etats-Unis…..)
Two successful events
On Sunday, 27 May and 10 June, the Gouffern Horseman Club hosted two introductory race days at the newly branded ParisLongchamp racecourse. Both events were a great success. More than 300 guests accepted the invitation of the Gouffern Horseman Club and showed real interest in the innovative concept of a shared breeding and racehorse ownership club, created by Jean-Pierre and Philippe de Gasté.
