A daughter of Sea The Stars offers a first six-figure bid to the young operation

Following the August Yearling Sale, the French-American operation set up by Haras de Gouffern and Taylor Made Sales Agency, sold 3 additional yearlings at the ARQANA October Yearling Sale.

Offered in part 1 of the sale, on Tuesday October 22nd, lot 84 caught the expert eye of Tina Rau. The German bloodstock agent went to €130,000 to secure the daughter of SEA THE STARS out of the young Dansili mare FREESIA. The yearling reached a price far above the average price of the session at €81,626, a breaking-record figure for this sale.
Bred by Grundy Bloodstock Ltd (Franca Vittadini), the chestnut filly enjoyed a timely update as her three-part 3yo sister, Call Me Love (Sea The Stars x Fresnay, a sister to Freesia), won a Group 3 in Milan just 10 days prior to the sale. Since then, Call Me Love shone again when landing by 1 ½ length the prestigious Gr.2 Premio Lydia Tesio, the best race for fillies and mares in Italy. It bodes well for this talented family that includes many Group performing horses, such as Field of Hope (2nd dam of Call Me Love and lot 84), a dual Gr.1 winner in France responsible for no less than 5 black type horses including Gr.3 winner Dormello and Olympian Odyssey, 2nd in the 2,000 Guineas (Gr.1) at Newmarket.
Right after the hammer fell, the Sea The Stars filly joined the Chantilly yard of German professional Markus Munch who will be training her on behalf of her new owner Eric Schwaiger.

On day 2 of the sale, on Wednesday October 23rd, lot 165, a colt by first crop sire PRIDE OF DUBAI out of Siyouni’s SEE YOU ALWAYS didn’t achieve the reserve price set by his connection and was bought back for €24,0000. Now broken in by the young team of Ecurie de la Frênée, the yearling will enjoy a well-deserved break before going into training in France in the near future. His maternal pedigree is full of Group 1 horses that performed over the last two years: Latrobe, 2018 Irish Derby (Gr.1) hero, Newspaperofrecord, 2018 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (Gr.1) winner and Pink Dogwood, placed in the Epsom Oaks (Gr.1), Pretty Polly Stakes (Gr.1) and Irish Oaks (Gr.1) this year.

On the last day of the sale, on Friday October 25th, lot 545 changed hand for €15,000. Bred by the Hoskins family, he was purchased by the Italian-born and Chantilly-based trainer Alessandro Botti. This is a son of DABIRSIM out of BESITO, winner of two races from at 2 and 4 in Great Britain and France. Besito is herself by precocious sire Kodiac out of Listed plcaed Christmas Kiss. Dabirsim is one of the rare representatives of the Hail To Reason/Halo/Sunday Silence bloodline in France, responsible for the most successful sire in Japan, the late Deep Impact. Thanks to his impressive wins in the Prix Morny (Gr.1) and the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère (Gr.1), he was crowned European Champion 2yo in 2011.

The Gouffern Taylor Made Sales team wishes the best of luck to the connections of these three lovely yearlings!
