Haras de Gouffern and Taylor Made Sales Agency are partnering to consign yearlings at Deauville
A few months ago, the American operation Taylor Made Sales Agency and the French stud farm Haras de Gouffern, as well as its commercial arm I.T.C. – International Thoroughbred Consultants, a Bloodstock and Consultancy Agency, entered into an exclusive partnership. Above all, both parties are committed to offer their clients and partners a top-quality service, an opportunity to maximize each horses value and create international once in a lifetime experiences around racehorses and culture.
As part of this alliance, I.T.C. represents the American stud in France and in the Middle East, especially in Saudi Arabia. Vice versa, Taylor Made Sales Agency is I.T.C.’s correspondent in the United States.
A joint consignment project at Deauville from 2019 onwards
From 2019 onwards, a yearling consignment will be presented on a yearly basis at the Deauville sales. This consignment is one of the projects that are being developed by the partnership. The interactions between Europe and the United States are frequent and it is not unusual to see the offspring of European stallions triumph in the United States or horses that have American sires do well in Europe. Roaring Lion, a dual Group 1 winner in the UK that Taylor Made Sales Agency sold for $160,000 to David Redvers at the 2016 Keeneland September Sales, US Navy Flag, Lancaster Bomber, Mendelssohn, Olmedo, Homérique, Wusool, Shang Shang Shang, Wren’s Day, Acapulco, Sergei Prokofiev, etc. are just some of the most recent examples.
Based on this evidence, Taylor Made Sales Agency and Haras de Gouffern plan to put together a group of quality yearlings, with a blend of European and American bloodlines.
Regarding the project of a joint consignment, Jean-Pierre de Gasté, the President of I.T.C. and Haras de Gouffern & de La Genevraye, says: “I welcome this partnership with Taylor Made Sales Agency that will make its debut at the 2019 Deauville sales. This is a major innovation, as it is the first time that an American operation, and not just any operation, but the United States’ leading consignor, will present yearlings directly at the ARQANA sales. Also, this project should attract some fresh interest in the Deauville sales.
Duncan Taylor, CEO and President of Taylor Made Farm, adds: “We are always looking for better ways to serve our customers. Jean-Pierre and I, working on private sales to his strong customer base in the Middle East, learned we shared the same core values. From this foundation, we want to build a honest and transparent customer service oriented company that provides greater opportunity for breeders, and yearling sellers to maximize the value of their horses.”
Eric Hoyeau, CEO of ARQANA, concludes: “The introduction of a consignment at Deauville between Haras de Gouffern and Taylor Made Sales Agency, historical consignor at the American sales, is in line with our strategy of turning the Deauville sales into a global event. We are always looking to provide our buyers with an offer that combines quality with diversity. It is a very encouraging sign for the French market that more and more professionals involved in the industry share this same vision of openness and engage in the momentum.”
