Only a few weeks after her success in the Gr 1 Qatar Prix Vermeille at Chantilly, the Francis-Henri Graffard trained Bateel confirmed that she truly is a Group 1 filly.
On Saturday, 21 October, on Qipco Champions day at Ascot, Bateel once more proved her class when she finished second in the Group 1 Qipco British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes. She was beaten by the Aidan O’Brien trained Hydrangea, a winner of the Group 1 Matron Stakes a month earlier at Leopardstown, while Group 1 winners Journey and Left Hand finished behind her.
I.T.C. – International Thoroughbred Consultants, the commercial arm of the Haras de Gouffern & de La Genevraye, had purchased Bateel’s dam Attractive Crown for Al Asayl at the November sales in Keeneland.
Congratulations to her breeder and owner Al Asayl, to her trainer Francis-Henri Graffard and her jockey Pierre-Charles Boudot!
